Jakarta –
Deputy Chairman of Commission IX DPR Yahya Zaini supports the policy work from home (WFH) for the private sector. Yahya assesses that the WFH policy can be an effective step for energy efficiency while reducing the burden on workers’ expenses.
“I support the WFH policy implemented by the government with the aim of making energy use efficient. With WFH officers and employees can save energy and financial use,” Yahya told reporters, Thursday (2/3/2026).
Even so, Yahya emphasized that implementing WFH should not reduce work productivity. According to him, a flexible work system should encourage increased performance and adaptation to technology.

“But don’t forget that WFH does not reduce work productivity. On the contrary, WFH must increase productivity, be adaptive to technology and be sustainable,” he said.
“Apart from saving energy in the office and fuel users, WFH will also save finances. Because it will reduce the cost of spending fuel during the day,” he continued.
Yahya proposed Wednesday as the ideal time to implement private WFH. This is because Wednesday is in the middle of the week.
“In my opinion, the ideal day for WFH is Wednesday because it is the middle of the week. If it is at the beginning of the week or at the end of the week it will disrupt productivity, because it is close to a holiday,” he said.
Furthermore, Yahya emphasized the importance of strict supervision in implementing WFH. According to him, this is so that workers do not consider it a holiday.
“Don’t let WFH be considered a holiday or reduce work productivity even though the main aim is to reduce energy use,” he said.
This Golkar Party politician also reminded companies to continue to fulfill workers’ rights even though they implement WFH. Including, he said, related to salaries and allowances.
“The existence of WFH does not reduce workers’ rights to receive salaries and benefits. Don’t let companies cut workers’ salaries and benefits even though there is WFH. This must be ensured by the government and monitored closely to avoid ‘rogue’ companies,” he said.
Previously, the government had decided on a work from home or WFH scheme for private employees. The government urges companies to provide WFH one day a week.
“We are advised to implement WFH for workers or laborers for one working day a week according to company conditions and WFH working hours regulated by the company,” said Minister of Manpower Yassierli in a press conference.
Yassierli said that the WFH recommendation for the private sector also does not reduce annual leave and monthly salaries. The technical implementation of WFH for private employees will be the responsibility of each company.
“The implementation of WFH does not reduce annual leave,” he said.
