Blocky world Minecraft Bedrock Edition continues to undergo a significant visual transformation entering 2026. Thanks to the presence of graphical updates ‘Vibrant Visuals‘ from Mojang Studios and technology support Ray Tracing As it matures, players can now enjoy a much more immersive experience with graphics that approach realism.
Vibrant Visuals: Mojang’s Graphic Revolution
Mojang Studios, the developer behind the Minecraft phenomenon, has introduced ‘Vibrant Visuals’ as a major graphical upgrade for Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Announced at Minecraft Live March 2025, this update is designed to provide significant visual improvements, including directional lighting, volumetric fog, pixelated shadows, and sparkling water effects.

This update aims to evoke how the Minecraft world looks ‘in the player’s imagination’. Art Director Jasper Boerstra explained that the inspiration came from the streamer community. “Vibrant Visuals was inspired by streamers. When I thought of this project, I watched streamers build to see how people played with shaders and how they reacted to them,” said Boerstra. “One thing I noticed was that players often turned shaders off when doing certain tasks, like building, because they wanted to see things more clearly. That inspired me to think about how we could create graphics that didn’t need to be turned off—graphics that were comfortable for building.”
Vibrant Visuals, released for compatible Bedrock Edition devices in late 2025, is available as an option that can be activated via the menu, allowing players to easily switch between the old and new views. Mojang Studios hopes to bring these improvements to “as many devices as possible” and plans to implement them in Minecraft: Java Edition in the future.
Role of Render Dragon and Ray Tracing
This visual improvement cannot be separated from the role of the Render Dragon engine, the core graphics rendering engine for Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Dragon rendering enables more realistic lighting and shading capabilities, laying the foundation for modern graphics features.
Additionally, Ray Tracing technology, first introduced in the exclusive beta version of Bedrock Edition in April 2020 and released to the public in December 2020, continues to offer an immersive visual experience. Ray Tracing, powered by Render Dragon, delivers realistic lighting capabilities such as global illumination and per-pixel lighting, as well as support for advanced textures. This feature requires DirectX-compatible hardware, such as an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 Series or above or AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series and above, as well as a 64-bit Windows operating system.
Although Vibrant Visuals is now the main focus of Mojang’s graphics development, Ray Tracing remains supported and will continue to work on compatible devices. A Bedrock developer in October 2025 clarified that there were no plans to remove RTX support, insisting that any changes would be announced through official channels.
The Shader Community Continues to Succeed
Outside of official updates, the Minecraft Bedrock modding community remains active in creating various shader packs that offer a variety of visual styles. From shaders focused on extreme realism to unique cartoon styles, the available options are increasingly diverse, allowing for deep visual personalization.
Some popular shaders in early 2026 that are in high demand include “Luma Shade – Vibrant Visuals Pack” which was named the top shader of the year, “Relta Visuals” with its color saturation and dynamic shadows, “Phantom Visuals” for more artistic lighting, “Lumenix Shader” with light intensity and saturation, and “Zen Visuals” which balances visual beauty with performance. Other shaders such as “Prizma Visuals 2.0” and “Revolution Deferred” also stand out for their realistic lighting and high water quality.
It is important to note that shader performance may vary depending on the device. Some shaders are specifically designed to balance visual quality with smooth gameplay, such as “Zen Visuals” which offers bright visuals without lag.
